Take Up Your Cross

“Take up your cross and follow Me” means being willing to die to self in order to follow Jesus. The Greek is: “aparneomai” and means: “to forget one’s self, lose sight of one’s self and one’s own interests.”…Taking up one’s cross is not only believing Christ Crucified, but also committing ourselves to following Him. Each and every day we must make the definitive choice to either follow Christ or yield to our own selfish interests. To renounce our own ways and live our lives in accordance with God’s Word and the guidance of The Holy Spirit, is to find love, joy and peace in Him. Although taking up our cross and following Jesus is not always easy, the reward is matchless……”And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it”. Luke 9:23-24.
