Work Out Your Own Salvation

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Heb 12:1.

Olympic runners put off and throw aside everything that hinders and obstructs them in their race. As Followers of Jesus Christ we must run our Christian race by laying aside or throwing off the weight and sin that hinders and obstructs and besets us. This Christian race must be run with an awareness (working out our salvation with fear and trembling)…“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. Phil 2:12. If we do not watch, pray and continually depend on God and maintain our faith in The Cross, the weights and sins will over take us and our spiritual light and life will grow extremely dim.

As children of God we must possess a Holy Fear that trembles at the very thought of turning away from Christ and The Cross. The carnal and worldly lusts whether from within or from without that impede this race must be laid aside. Whatever weighs down our hearts and our affection for the things of righteoueness must be carefully avoided and laid at the foot of The Cross.

Having so many admonishments to holiness, righteousness, and faith in Christ Jesus, we should lay aside every hindrance, and run with patience the race that is set before us…looking unto Christ the Author and finisher of our faith…“ Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”. Heb 12:2.
