Looking Unto Jesus

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:2.

In this race (Heb 12:1) that we run, we do so by faith in The Cross and by looking unto Jesus, Who is the author and finisher of our faith. By faith we look off and away from the world and all its humanistic and secular concerns to Jesus, for all the spiritual and heavenly things connected with him and His righteousness. We must place all our hope and confidence in Christ, as out sole helper in this race of faith. Our faith in Christ and The Cross keeps us committed to His will, (Heb 10: 7-10, Mark 14:36), helps us to be victorious over temptation and hardships (Heb 2:10, 14:36), remain loyal to The Heavenly Father (Heb 12:2-3, 14:36) and committed to Him as the source of strength, mercy, grace and help. (Heb 4:16, 7:25, 10:22, Rev 3:21).

We look to The Cross in faith for freedom from all the weights that encumber us and weight us down. Our freedom from all the sin that does entangle us is found only in The Cross. Whatever weighs down our hearts in opposition to the things of righteousness must be carefully avoided and laid at the foot of The Cross. If we do not watch, pray and continually maintain our faith in The Cross, the weights and sins will over take us and our spiritual light and life will grow extremely dim. Don’t let your light grow dim…
